EWGA Champions Cup

What is the EWGA Champions Cup?

The EWGA Champions Cup is a Team Match Play Competition consisting of 18 holes of Four Ball and 18 holes of singles match play held over 2 stages:  4 Regional Qualifiers and a National Championship.  Chapters are divided into 8 regions, and each chapter must qualify for advancement out of their respective Regional Qualifier, which hosts 2 out of the 8 regions, during the month of September. Teams with the highest number of points earned by their matches in the Regional Qualifiers will advance to the National Championship on November 8-11, 2012 at Sycuan Resort in El Cajon, California. 

Who is Eligible to Compete?

All EWGA Chapter Members in good standing who are female amateur golfers and have a verifiable USGA Handicap Index of 32.0 or less at the entry deadline are eligible to compete.  Eligible players must also have a minimum of (3) 18-hole scores posted to their 2012 handicap record by the Regional Qualifier deadline.

Stage #1:  Regional Championship

The two day tournament will be held at the Port Royal Golf Course in Hilton Head, South Carolina on September 14 -16, 2012.

Player Fee:  $235 includes two rounds of golf, range balls, golf cart, tee gift, Player Reception on Friday, lunch on Saturday and Sunday, Champions Cup entry fee, taxes and gratuities

Format: Eight-player teams compete over 2 days; one day will be 18 holes of four-ball match play and the other dy will be 18 holes of singles' match play.  The team with the most points and perhaps the second place team (depends on number of teams in Regional) will advance to the National Championship. 

Eligibility:  Entries are open to all EWGA Chapter members in good standing (current membership processes and on record at EWGA) who are female amateur golfers and have a verifiable USGA Handicap Index.  Each registrant must have an equivalent of three (3) 18-hole scores posted to their handicap record in the current year prior to the handicap cut-off date for the Regional Qualifier. When determining the course handicap for Regional & National competition, team members with indexes higher than 32.0 will play with a course handicap equal to that of a player with a 32.0 handicap index. 

EWGA HDQ Registration:  Registration as a team with full team payment begins on June 1st with a deadline of July 7th.  Each region will have space for 15 teams on a first come, first serve basis.  EWGA HDQ will confirm team spots on July 14 in the order of receipt of the registration forms.

Atlanta Chapter Team(s) Registration and Selection:   

• Registration and payment of eligible members who are committed to play in the Regional Qualifier.  
• Team(s) composition will be selected from the lowest to highest handicap of the registrants.  
• We may field multiple teams depending on response of Chapter members and confirmation of the entry by EWGA HDQ,  which is on a first come, first served basis.  All team registrations must be received by EWGA HDQ by July 7.
• We will register teams as soon as we have registrations and have verified handicaps.  The sooner you register the more likely we will be able to get additional teams into the competition.  A waiting list will be maintained for substitutions.  
• Once the team(s) are confirmed by EWGA HDQ on July 14, team payments are non-refundable.  
• Refunds will be made to any Atlanta Chapter registrant who is not selected for a team that is confirmed by EWGA HDQ.
