League Sublist

EWGA Members who would like to participate in a League, but can't play full time or commit to a whole season are encouraged to join the sublist. For a $25 fee you are put on a list as a substitute player for any League that matches your level of play (please note the handicap requirements for each League). You will be notified weekly of open tee times. Subbing is on a pay-as-you-go basis and it is your responsibility to pay the person you are subbing for directly. Substitute players offer a way to reimburse a League member when she is unable to play and also provide golfing opportunities for women who cannot commit to regular League play. Subbing is a great way to get out on the course as often as you can and join in the fun.

How Subbing Works:
League Player's Responsibilities
1. If a League player is in need of a sub, the League player should send an email to all members of the sub list as early as possible listing the league, course, day and tee time.
2. If there are no takers 24 hours prior to the League play, the player has the right to then ask someone outside EWGA to sub.
3. It is the responsibility of the League player to notify her foursome on who will be subbing.
4. Provide any additional information to the sub that the sub needs to know (foursome names, League sign-in, other course info etc.)

Substitute's Responsibilities
1. Confirm that the level of play for that League matches her ability.
2. Once a sub commits to a League player, she is responsible for paying that player directly for the spot (The sub fee is $40 for Saxon and Sprain, and $45 for Westchester Hills).
4. Notice to cancel must be made to the League player within 24 hours or the sub must pay the League player the sub fee.
5. A maximum handicap of 30 is required for subbing at Westchester Hills as it is a competitive League that requires strict adherence to the rules of competitive golf. e.g. no mulligans, out of bounds rules enforced, etc. (For the Westchester Hills Spring League, the maximum handicap allowed is 32).

Standby Subbing at Saxon and Sprain
During past 12-week seasons, many tee times have gone unused. In an effort to give everyone a chance to play in various Leagues, we now have "standby" subbing for the Saxon and Sprain Leagues only. If you are available to play on the Saxon or Sprain League days, you can show up at the course as a "standby". If there is a spot, you will get to play. No subbing registration is required however if you play you will be required to pay a $40 fee (check payable to "EWGA"); you can give the check to the League Captain, a Board member or a member of the foursome that you play in. Standby subbing is a "show up at your own risk" policy. You will not be e-mailed in advance of open spots; spots may or may not be available.
