Sub rules & guidelines
Purpose: To enhance league play by allowing for a full roster of golfers during the season. Substitute players offer a way to reimburse a league member when she is unable to play and provide golfing opportunities for women who cannot commit to regular league play.
How subbing works:
League Player's Responsibility:
1. If a league player is in need of a sub, an email should be sent to all members of the sub list as early as possible listing the tee time and other players in the foursome.
2. If there are no takers 24 hours prior to the league play, the player has the right to ask someone outside EWGA to sub.
3. It is the responsibility of the league player to let her foursome know who is subbing.
Responsibility of Sub:
1. Once a sub commits to a league player, she is responsible to pay the player directly for the spot
2. Sub fee is $35 for Saxon Woods and Sprain Lake, and $45 for Doral Arrowood.
3. Notice to cancel must be made within 24 hours or the sub must pay the league player the sub fee.
4. A maximim handicap of 32 is required for subbing at Doral Arrowood as it is a competitive league that requires strict adherance to the rules of competitive golf. e.g. no mulligans, out of bounds rules enforced, etc.
Tee Times:
Saxon on Tuesday - tee times begin at 4:10 and end at 5:20
Doral on Wednesday - tee times begin at 4:40 and end at 5:40
Sprain on Thursday - tee times begin at 3:50 and end at 5:10
Subbing Registration Fee: EWGA Members, not playing in a league full time, will pay the one time charge of $25 to register as a sub for one or more leagues. A list of league players and the substitute listing will be e-mailed.
Something New: Standby Subbing at Saxon and Sprain
During the 12 week season, many tee times have gone unused. In an effort to give everyone a chance to play in various leagues we are going to initiate "standby" subbing for the Sprain and Saxon leagues only. No subbing registration is required and is a "show up at your own risk" policy. You will not be e-mailed in advance of open spots.
If you find out the day of one of the leagues that you have time to play, you can show up at the course as a "standby". If there is a spot, you will get to play. Please bring a check made payable to EWGA for $35 and give to the League Captain, a Board member or a member of the foursome you play in. Of course, if there are no spots, you will not play that day.
